Sacha Noam Baron Cohen is an English actor, comedian, and screenwriter. A graduate of Christ's College, Cambridge, Baron Cohen is most widely known for creating and playing four fictional characters: Ali G, Borat Sagdiyev, Brüno Gehard and Admiral General Aladeen. In most of his routines, Baron Cohen's characters interact with unsuspecting people who do not realise they are being set up for comic situations and self-revealing ridicule. His other work includes voicing King Julien XIII in the Madagascar film series and starring in Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, Hugo and Les Misérables. He made a cameo as a BBC News Anchor in Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues. I think if you come from a history of persecution you have to develop a sense of humour.
To single out a particular group and say we can't make a joke about them is almost a form of prejudice and it's kind of patronizing.
Dictators are ludicrous characters, and, you know, in my career and in my life, I've always enjoyed sort of inhabiting these ludicrous, larger-than-life characters that somehow exist in the real world.
I think I think in the moment. So when I'm in character, I'm in character, and I'm obviously thinking about what's going on around me, but it's easier to do stuff when you're in character.
