Anna Fitzgerald looks to earn medical emancipation from her parents who until now have relied on their youngest child to help their leukemia-stricken daughter Kate remain alive.

Jesse Fitzgerald: Jesus christ, Anna, just tell them.
Andromeda 'Anna' Fitzgerald: You shut up.
Jesse Fitzgerald: Tell them why we're here. Tell them what we're doing here in court...
Andromeda 'Anna' Fitzgerald: [cuts in] You promised me that you wouldn't do this.
Jesse Fitzgerald: God, you people are so stupid!
Andromeda 'Anna' Fitzgerald: [shouts] you promised!
Jesse Fitzgerald: Kate wants to die!
Andromeda 'Anna' Fitzgerald: Stop it!
Jesse Fitzgerald: She's making Anna do all this 'cause she knows she's not gonna survive another operation.
Sara Fitzgerald: [yells] That's a lie, Jesse.
Jesse Fitzgerald: Mum, no, it's not. Kate's dying and everybody knows it! You just love her so much that you don't want to let her go!
Campbell Alexander: Your honor?
Jesse Fitzgerald: [continues] But it's time Mum, Kate's ready.
Sara Fitzgerald: That's not true. Kate would've told me!
Campbell Alexander: You're honor, I...
Jesse Fitzgerald: Mum, she did tell you,
Brian Fitzgerald: She did. She told you million times, you didn't want to hear it.
Kate Fitzgerald: Want to hear our routine?
Sara Fitzgerald: What routine?
Andromeda 'Anna' Fitzgerald: [lowers voice, imitating a male] Hey baby, what's your sign?
Kate Fitzgerald: Cancer.
Andromeda 'Anna' Fitzgerald: You're a cancer?
Kate Fitzgerald: No, I'm a Leo.
Andromeda 'Anna' Fitzgerald, Kate Fitzgerald: But I have cancer.
[last lines]
Andromeda 'Anna' Fitzgerald: I'll never understand why Kate had to die and we all got to live. There's no reason for it, I guess. Death's just death, nobody understands it. Once upon a time, I thought I was put on Earth to save me sister. And in the end, I couldn't do it. I realize now, that wasn't the point. The point was I had a sister. She was fantastic. One day I'm sure I'll see her again. But until then, our relationship continues.
[first lines]
Andromeda 'Anna' Fitzgerald: When I was a kid, my mother told me that I was a little piece of blue sky that came into this world because she and Dad loved me so much. It was only later that I realized that it wasn't exactly true. Most babies are coincidences. I mean, up in space you've got all these souls flying around looking for bodies to live in. Then, down here on Earth, two people have sex or whatever, and bam, coincidence. Sure, you hear all these stories about how everyone plans these perfect families. But the truth is that most babies are products of drunken evenings and lack of birth control. They're accidents. Only people who have trouble making babies actually plan for them.
Andromeda 'Anna' Fitzgerald: I, on the other hand, am not a coincidence. I was engineered. Born for a particular reason. A scientist hooked up my mother's eggs and my father's sperm to make a specific combination of genes. He did it to save my sister's life. Sometimes I wonder what would have happened if Kate had been healthy. I'd probably still be up in heaven or wherever, waiting to be attached to a body down here on Earth. But coincidence or not, I'm here.
Kate Fitzgerald: This is it. I know I'm going to die now. I suppose I've always known that. I just never knew when. And I'm okay with it. Really. I don't mind my disease killing me. But it's killing my family, too.
Taylor Ambrose: I'm Taylor. AML.
Kate Fitzgerald: I'm Kate. APL.
Taylor Ambrose: Oh, a rarity.
Andromeda 'Anna' Fitzgerald: I was engineered, born for a particular reason. A scientist hooked up my mothers eggs and my fathers sperm to make a specific combination of genes. He did it to save my sister's life.
Jesse: I tried to wake her up. I poked her and everything.
Andromeda 'Anna' Fitzgerald: Most babies are accidents. Not me. I was engineered. Born to save my sister's life.
Andromeda 'Anna' Fitzgerald: Look at me, I'm crying like an idiot.
Judge De Salvo: You're not an idiot. I see idiots everyday. You're not even close.
Taylor Ambrose: [Saying jokingly, holding Kate] I bet you'll lose your cookies within three minutes
Kate Fitzgerald: [Not amused] You're disgusting.
Kate Fitzgerald: Do I look pretty daddy?
Andromeda 'Anna' Fitzgerald: You in pain?
Kate Fitzgerald: Pain? My whole life is a pain.
Andromeda 'Anna' Fitzgerald: I want to sue my parents for the right to my own body.
Campbell Alexander: Would you repeat that, please?
Andromeda 'Anna' Fitzgerald: I want to sue my parents for the right to my own body. My sister has leukemia. They're trying to force me to give her my body parts.
Campbell Alexander: You're supposed to give her a kidney?
Andromeda 'Anna' Fitzgerald: She's been in renal failure for months now.
Campbell Alexander: Well, no one can force you to donate if you don't want to, can they?
Andromeda 'Anna' Fitzgerald: They think they can. I'm under 18, they're my legal guardians.
Campbell Alexander: They can't do that.
Andromeda 'Anna' Fitzgerald: Well, I want you to tell them, because they've been doing it to me my whole life. I wouldn't even be alive if Kate wasn't sick. I'm a designer baby. I was made in a dish to be spare parts for Kate.
Jesse Fitzgerald: Our family is kind of disconnected. Dad's relatives are wealthy and distant, and Mom's side drives her crazy. So besides Aunt Kelly, we never really get to see anybody except on holidays or disasters.
Sara Fitzgerald: Oh my God, you're good. You're really good. You know, I've seen your commercials, right? I mean, who hasn't? And I always thought that you were some sort of headline-seeking hack. But you have real talent. You almost had me believing that you cared about Anna.
Campbell Alexander: Funny, I was about to say the same thing to you.
