Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark become targets of the Capitol after their victory in the 74th Hunger Games sparks a rebellion in the Districts of Panem.

Peeta Mellark: Katniss, I don't... I don't know kind of deals you made with Haymitch, but he made me promises too.
[Pulls off the necklace from around his neck]
Peeta Mellark: If you die, and I live, I'd have nothing. Nobody else that I care about.
Katniss Everdeen: Peeta.
Peeta Mellark: It's different for you. Your family needs you.
[Opens locket to reveal three pictures - Gale, Prim, and her Mother]
Peeta Mellark: You have to live. For them.
Katniss Everdeen: What about you?
Peeta Mellark: Nobody needs me.
Katniss Everdeen: I do. I need you.
Peeta Mellark: See, Katniss, the way the whole "friend" thing works is you have to tell each other the deep stuff.
Katniss Everdeen: The deep stuff?
Peeta Mellark: Yeah.
Katniss Everdeen: Uh-oh. Like what?
Peeta Mellark: Like, uh... what's your favorite color?
Katniss Everdeen: Well, now you've stepped over the line.
Caesar Flickerman: But, Peeta, the wedding, the marriage, never to be?
Peeta Mellark: Well, actually, we got married... in secret.
Caesar Flickerman: A secret wedding. All right, do tell.
Peeta Mellark: We... we want our love to be eternal.
Caesar Flickerman: Of course.
Peeta Mellark: You know, Katniss and I... we've been... we've been luckier than most, and I wouldn't have any regrets at all, i-i-if it... if it weren't... if...
Caesar Flickerman: If it weren't... for what? What? What?
Peeta Mellark: If it weren't for the baby.
Johanna Mason: You guys look amazing.
Katniss Everdeen: Thank you.
Johanna Mason: My stylist is such an idiot. District 7, lumber. Trees. Ugh. I'd love to put my axe on her face. So what do you think, now that the whole world wants to sleep with you?
Katniss Everdeen: [scoffs] I don't think that the whole world...
Johanna Mason: I wasn't talking to you.
Katniss Everdeen: Okay.
Johanna Mason: [to Peeta] Will you unzip?
Peeta Mellark: Yeah.
[Peeta unzips her dress, Katniss glares at Peeta, Johanna disrobes completely then stares them down boldly, making for an awkward pause till the elevator stops at Johanna's floor]
Johanna Mason: [exiting] Thanks. Let's do it again sometime.
Haymitch Abernathy: Thank YOU. Johanna Mason, District 7.
Katniss Everdeen: I just wanted to say that I didn't know Thresh, I only spoke to him once. He could have killed me, but instead he showed me mercy. That's a debt I'll never be able to repay. I did know Rue. She wasn't just my ally, she was my friend. I see her in the flowers that grow in the meadow by my house. I hear her in the Mockingjay song. I see her in my sister Prim. She was too young, too gentle, and I couldn't save her. I'm sorry.
Peeta Mellark: They won't touch Prim! All right?
Johanna Mason: Your fiancé's right. The whole country loves your sister. If they tortured her or did anything to her - forget the districts - there would be riots in the damn Capitol.
[Johanna screams at the sky]
Johanna Mason: Hey, how does that sound, Snow? What if we... what if we set YOUR backyard on fire? You know you can't put everybody in here!
[Everyone looks at her in disbelief]
Johanna Mason: What? He can't hurt me. There's no one left that I love.
[from trailer]
Haymitch Abernathy: Remember who the real enemy is.
Finnick Odair: Katniss.
Katniss Everdeen: Hello, Finnick.
Finnick Odair: Do you want a sugar cube? I mean it's supposed to be for the horses, but... I mean who cares about them, right? They got years to eat sugar, whereas you and I... well, if we see something sweet we better grab it.
Katniss Everdeen: No thanks, but I would love to borrow that outfit someday.
Finnick Odair: You look pretty terrifying in that get up. What happened to the pretty little girl dresses?
Katniss Everdeen: I outgrew them.
Finnick Odair: You certainly did. Shame about this quell thing. Now you... you could have made out like a bandit in the Capitol. Jewels, money, anything you wanted.
Katniss Everdeen: Well, I don't like jewels and I have more money than I need, so... What did you do with all your wealth anyway?
Finnick Odair: I haven't dealt in anything as common as money in years.
Katniss Everdeen: Well, then, how do people pay for the pleasure of your company?
Finnick Odair: With secrets. What about you, Girl on Fire? Any secrets worth my time?
Katniss Everdeen: I'm an open book. Everybody always seems to know my secrets before I know them myself.
Finnick Odair: Unfortunately, I think that's true. I'm sorry you had to cancel your wedding. I know how devastating that must be for you. Have a good day.
[Peeta walks up to them]
Finnick Odair: [exiting] Peeta.
Peeta Mellark: Finnick. What'd he want?
Katniss Everdeen: To know all my secrets.
Peeta Mellark: Hm. Have to get in line.
Effie Trinket: Eyes bright, chins up, smiles on. I'm talking to you, Katniss.
Katniss Everdeen: Any last advice?
Haymitch Abernathy: Stay alive.
Primrose Everdeen: Since the last games, something is different. I can see it.
Katniss Everdeen: What can you see?
Primrose Everdeen: Hope.
Haymitch Abernathy: [Stops Katniss from assaulting him] You and a syringe against the Capitol? See, this is why no one lets you make the plans.
Johanna Mason: Really? A wedding dress?
Katniss Everdeen: Snow made me wear it.
Johanna Mason: Make him pay for it.
[Katniss acknowledges]
Katniss Everdeen: [hearing the door open] I'm really not in the mood for a lecture. I'll apologize to Effie later.
[She turns and sees it's Peeta who's entered the room]
Katniss Everdeen: I thought you were Haymitch.
Peeta Mellark: You don't have to apologize to anybody, including me. I know it's not fair of me to hold you to things that you said in the games - you saved us, I know that - but I can't go on acting for the cameras and then just ignoring each other in real life; so, if you can stop looking at me like I'm wounded, then I can quit acting like it, and then MAYBE we have a shot at being friends.
Katniss Everdeen: I've never been very good at friends.
Peeta Mellark: For starters, it does help when you know the person. I hardly know anything about you except that you're stubborn and good with a bow.
Katniss Everdeen: That about sums me up.
Peeta Mellark: No, there's more than that. You just don't want to tell me.
Plutarch Heavensbee: Now, Katniss, you have been our mission from the beginning. The plan was always to get you out. Half the tributes were in on it. This is the revolution, and you are the mockingjay.
President Snow: Fear does not work as long as there is hope.
Johanna Mason: Love is weird.
[from trailer]
Primrose Everdeen: You saved my life. You gave me a chance.
Katniss Everdeen: Yes, to live.
Primrose Everdeen: No, to do something.
[the morning of the games]
Katniss Everdeen: I don't want to be with anyone else in there. Just you.
Peeta Mellark: If that's what you want.
Katniss Everdeen: That's what I want.
Cinna: No waving and smiling this time. I want you to look straight ahead as if the audience and this whole event are beneath you.
Katniss Everdeen: That should be easy.
[repeated line]
Wiress: Tick tock.
Katniss Everdeen: Nobody decent ever wins the games.
Haymitch Abernathy: Nobody ever wins the games. Period. There are survivors. There's no winners.
[from trailer]
Gale Hawthorne: People are looking to you, Katniss. You've given them an opportunity. They just have to be brave enough to take it.
Katniss Everdeen: It must be a fragile system if it can be brought down by just a few berries.
[from trailer]
Haymitch Abernathy: I want you guys to forget everything you think you know about the games. Last year was child's play. This year, you're dealing with all experienced killers.
Finnick Odair: Katniss... remember who the real enemy is.
[about Katniss]
President Snow: She's not who they think she is. She's not a leader. She just wants to save her own skin. It's as simple as that.
Plutarch Heavensbee: I think that's true.
President Snow: She's become a beacon of hope for the rebellion, and she has to be eliminated.
Plutarch Heavensbee: I agree she should die, but in the right way, at the right time. It's moves and counter-moves, and it's all we gotta look at. Katniss Everdeen is a symbol. Their Mockingjay. They think she's one of them. We need to show that she's one of us. We don't need to destroy her, just the image, then we let the people do the rest.
President Snow: What do you propose?
Plutarch Heavensbee: Shut down the black markets, take away what little they have, then double the amount of floggings and executions. Put them on TV, broadcast them live, sow fear, more fear...
President Snow: It won't work. Fear does not work as long as they have hope, and Katniss Everdeen is giving them hope.
Plutarch Heavensbee: She's engaged. Make everything about that. What kind of dress is she gonna wear? - floggings. What's the cake gonna look like? - executions. Whose gonna be there? - fear. Blanket coverage. Shove it in their faces. Show them that she's one of us now.
[laughs]
Plutarch Heavensbee: They're gonna hate her so much they just might kill her for ya.
President Snow: Brilliant.
Peeta Mellark: [Eulogy for the fallen tributes of District 11] Though they fought and lived with honor and dignity until the end, both Thresh and Rue were so young. But our lives aren't just measured in years. They're measured in the lives of people we touch around us. For myself, for Katniss, we know that without Rue, and without Thresh, we wouldn't be standing here today.
[looking at the District 2 Female Tribute, Enobaria]
Katniss Everdeen: What's with her teeth?
Haymitch Abernathy: She had them filed into fangs so she could rip people's throats out.
Peeta Mellark: She's committed, I'll give her that.
[from trailer]
Katniss Everdeen: Haymitch, please. Please, just help me get through this trip.
Haymitch Abernathy: This trip doesn't end when you get back home.
Peeta Mellark: So what do we do?
Haymitch Abernathy: From now on, your job is to be a distraction so people forget what the real problems are.
Gale Hawthorne: Saw some turkeys on the way here. Crossed right in front of me like I wasn't even there.
Katniss Everdeen: How rude of them.
President Snow: Her entire species has to be eliminated.
Plutarch Heavensbee: Her species, sir?
President Snow: The other victors. Now, because of her, they all pose a threat. Because of her, they all think they're invincible.
Caesar Flickerman: We have seen a lot of tears here tonight, but I see no tears in Johanna's eyes. Johanna, you are angry. Tell me why.
Johanna Mason: Yeah, well, yes! I am angry. You know, I'm getting totally screwed over here.
Caesar Flickerman: Uh-huh.
Johanna Mason: The deal was that, if I won the Hunger Games, I get to live the rest of my life in peace, but now, you wanna kill me again. But you know what?
[bleep]
Johanna Mason: that! And
[bleep]
Johanna Mason: everybody that had anything to do with it!
Caesar Flickerman: All right, then. One woman's opinion.
Katniss Everdeen: You were dead. Your heart stopped.
Peeta Mellark: It's okay. It's working now.
Peeta Mellark: Remember, Katniss, today's about making allies.
[They enter the training Center which is mostly empty with the male Morphling vomiting]
Katniss Everdeen: So far, I'm not overwhelmed by our choices.
Finnick Odair: Well, I guess we're not holding hands anymore.
Katniss Everdeen: You think that's funny?
Finnick Odair: Everytime that cannon goes off, it's music to my ears. I don't care about any of them.
Katniss Everdeen: Good to hear.
[from trailer]
Caesar Flickerman: There she is! Katniss Everdeen! The girl on fire!
Katniss Everdeen: I see her in my sister Prim.
[from trailer]
President Snow: You fought very hard in the Games, Miss Everdeen. But they were games. Would you like to be in a real war? Imagine thousands of your people, dead. Your loved ones, gone.
Katniss Everdeen: What do I need to do?
[from trailer]
Haymitch Abernathy: I think these games are gonna be different.
Haymitch Abernathy: Good news. At least half the tributes want you as an ally.
Peeta Mellark: Well, they saw her shoot.
Haymitch Abernathy: Hm. Well, sweetheart, you got your pick of the litter.
Katniss Everdeen: I want Wiress and Beetee.
Peeta Mellark: Johanna calls them Nuts and Volts.
Haymitch Abernathy: Well, okay, good. Now, who-who else?
Katniss Everdeen: Mags.
[Peeta turns away while rolling his eyes, clearly frustrated]
Katniss Everdeen: All right, fine, then no one.
Haymitch Abernathy: I'll tell them you're still making up your mind.
Peeta Mellark: [after almost dying from walking into a force field disguised as a jungle] Be careful, it's a force field up there.
Katniss Everdeen: You know and I know there's only one person walking out of here, and it's gonna be one of us.
Peeta Mellark: The Careers are still out there. If we stick with these guys till midnight and... and if we hear a cannon, we go.
[from trailer]
Primrose Everdeen: Katniss!
[to the peacekeeper]
Katniss Everdeen: I get to say goodbye!
Primrose Everdeen: Katniss!
[from trailer]
President Snow: This is the 75th year of the Hunger Games. The tributes are to be reaped on the existing pool of victors!
President Snow: Whatever game you think you're playing, those out there are not playing it with you.
[from trailer]
Katniss Everdeen: You understand, that what ever I do, it comes back to you and mom. I don't want you to get hurt.
Caesar Flickerman: Finnick, I understand that you have a message for somebody out there - a SPECIAL somebody.
[chuckles]
Caesar Flickerman: Can we hear it?
Finnick Odair: My love, you have my heart for all eternity and, uh, if... if I die in that arena, my last thought will be of your lips.
[looking at the District 4 Male Tribute]
Katniss Everdeen: Finnick Odair, right?
Haymitch Abernathy: Yes. He won the games at 14. Youngest ever. Extremely humble.
Katniss Everdeen: You're kidding.
Haymitch Abernathy: Yes, I'm kidding. He's a peacock, a total preener but he's the Capitol darling. They love him here. Charming, smart and very skilled at combat - especially in water.
Haymitch Abernathy: She's gonna lose it when she finds out about the boy.
Plutarch Heavensbee: She'll still cooperate, though.
Haymitch Abernathy: Without Peeta? There is no guarantee.
[from trailer]
Caesar Flickerman: The 75th Hunger Games!
Effie Trinket: We're a team, aren't we? And I'm so proud of my victors. So proud. You're so... Well, you both deserved so much better.
Katniss Everdeen: Thank you, Effie.
Effie Trinket: I am truly sorry.
[from trailer]
Gale Hawthorne: People wanna fight!
Effie Trinket: The library, all mahogany...
[from trailer]
Katniss Everdeen: We have to go Gale, before they kill us. They will kill us.
[first lines]
Gale Hawthorne: [as Katniss almost shoots him] Whoa, whoa. Easy. Saw some turkeys on the way here. Crossed right in front of me like I wasn't even there.
Katniss Everdeen: How rude of them.
Gale Hawthorne: That's what happens. You spend six days a week working in the mines and stupid birds start to think they own these woods.
[brief pause]
Gale Hawthorne: When's the tour leave?
Katniss Everdeen: Couple hours.
Gale Hawthorne: Well, let's go.
President Snow: She is preparing to fight.
Plutarch Heavensbee: That's our girl.
Young Girl: One day, I'm gonna volunteer, just like you did.
Katniss Everdeen: I'm here to drink.
Haymitch Abernathy: Oh. Finally, something I can help you with.
Plutarch Heavensbee: So how do you like the party?
Katniss Everdeen: It's a little overwhelming.
Plutarch Heavensbee: It's appalling. Still, if you abandon your moral judgment, it can be fun.
Haymitch Abernathy: Katniss, when you're in the arena, remember who the real enemy is.
Plutarch Heavensbee: The more allies she betrays - the more friends she kills - the more she reveals her true self.
