Alexis Carrel — French Scientist born on June 28, 1873, died on November 05, 1944

Alexis Carrel was a French surgeon and biologist who was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1912 for pioneering vascular suturing techniques. He invented the first perfusion pump with Charles A. Lindbergh opening the way to organ transplantation. Like many intellectuals before World War II he promoted eugenics. He was a regent for the French Foundation for the Study of Human Problems during Vichy France which implemented the eugenics policies there; his association with the Foundation and with Jacques Doriot's ultra-nationalist PPF led to investigations of collaborating with the Nazis, but he died before any trial could be held. He faced media attacks towards the end of his life over his alleged involvement with the Nazis... (wikipedia)

All of us, at certain moments of our lives, need to take advice and to receive help from other people.
Those who desire to rise as high as our human condition allows, must renounce intellectual pride, the omnipotence of clear thinking, belief in the absolute power of logic.
Life leaps like a geyser for those who drill through the rock of inertia.
The most efficient way to live reasonably is every morning to make a plan of one's day and every night to examine the results obtained.
The quality of life is more important than life itself.
