Reeva Rebecca Steenkamp was a South African model. On Valentine's Day 2013, Steenkamp was murdered by her boyfriend, Oscar Pistorius, who said he believed she was an intruder hiding in the bathroom. Pistorius was later found guilty of culpable homicide at his trial the following year, and served a one-year prison sentence. On 3 December 2015, the Supreme Court of Appeal of South Africa upgraded the charge of Culpable Homicide to Murder, a sentence which carries a minimum period of 15 years in prison in South Africa.
